The 2017 Stephen Curry Asia Tour Powered by Under Armour continued its third annual summer journey stopping in Hangzhou, China on Tuesday and Wednesday, and finally landing in Seoul, South Korea where the activities will come to an end tomorrow, Fri., July 28.
Today at a consumer event in Seoul, more than 3,000 fans watched Stephen surprise a fan after he made a half-court shot; Stephen was later joined on the court by his wife, Ayesha Curry who assisted in an alley-oop to the delight of the fans
Hangzhou, China – July 25-26
Upon arrival in Hangzhou, Stephen and Seth joined champion head coach and 13th generation descendent of Chen style Tai Chi, Qiao Di for an outdoor lesson in Tai Chi. The following day, both Stephen and Seth celebrated the grand opening of the Under Armour Brand House at Kerry Center Hangzhou; hundreds of fans braved the summer heat to be a part of the opening ceremony with the two-time champion and two-time MVP.
Chengdu, China – July 23-25
On Monday, Stephen and Seth hosted a consumer event for more than 3,000 fans; the opening included a traditional Chengdu panda dance and a rap performance by Chengdu’s own Higher Brothers. 30 youth basketball players selected by a local Under Armour camp participated in 5 on 5 games and 3-point contests.
On the second day of the summer tour, Stephen arrived in Chengdu and visited an Under Armour Brand House located in Joy City; he met with some of his biggest fans who shared personal art pieces inspired by Stephen. More than 2,000 fans took to the multi-story mall to catch a look at Stephen.
Stephen and Seth experienced traditional Hot Pot for the first time in Broad and Narrow Alley, a well-known and historic area of Chengdu. They also enjoyed a face mask changing performance – a trick performed in Sichuan Opera.
Beijing, China – July 22-23
On the first day, Stephen hosted a celebration event at the historic Beijing Tai Temple complete with musical performances, an Under Armour product showcase and a fan zone including a photo opp with the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
Global Under Armour women’s brand ambassador Lanxin Zhang – a national Taekwondo champion, joined Stephen and Seth on stage for a demonstration in Taekwondo kicks and Olympic gold medalist table tennis player, Ding Ning challenged Stephen to a game of table tennis and Stephen proved victorious scoring the first point! Lanxin, Ding and Chinese Basketball Association player Gu Quan formed shooting groups with Stephen and Seth – with Seth’s squad taking the win!
Earlier in the day, both Stephen and Seth visited the Beijing landmark CCTV tower, where Stephen dropped to do push-ups on the well-known glass floor of the 37th floor overlooking Beijing. Stephen and Seth also coached a youth clinic in partnership with the Jr. NBA featuring 30 young men and women; the students were put through dribbling paces and then coached by the brothers through an exhibition game at Beijing University of Technology attended by more than 3,000 fans. The day ended with a visit to Mei’s House for traditional Chinese food in a quadrangle courtyard in the Forbidden City, where they arrived via rickshaw bikes and enjoyed Peking Opera, a traditional Beijing Opera performance
The 2017 Stephen Curry Asia Tour Powered by Under Armour brings Stephen up close and personal with global fans who normally follow him fervently from thousands of miles away. It offers fans the chance to learn from Stephen lessons in life and basketball, but also impart the knowledge and culture of their diverse countries through experiential activations, public events, cultural happenings and more.
