The Air Max Zero is featured as part of the upcoming Doernbecher collection twice. This Nike Air Max Zero Doernbecher was created by 14 year old Chase Swearingen.

Chase goes by the nickname “The Captain” because he’s not afraid of taking charge. Since birth, Chase has been treated for hydrocephalus, which is a condition that causes the accumulation of fluid around the brain. This setback has become one of the reasons why Chase would like to pursue a doctorate in neuropsychology.

Different shades of blue and green cover the entire upper and mid sole. Notable details include the tongue reading “Unstoppable Chase”. The White tubing that runs all around the sockliner is said to represent the shunt (a hole or small passage which moves, or allows movement of, fluid from one part of the body to another) he’s had to live with his entire life. Chase also loves lighthouses, which is evident on the heel, which uses the Nike Swoosh as a light beam. The shoes also come with matching apparel. The matching shirt and hat don the lighthouse featured on the shoes. The Nike Air Max Zero Doernbecher is due to release on December 17th. The shoes come with a price tag of $150.
