It was a wild Saturday for the loyal legion of Stephen Curry fans in the Bay Area.
Under Armour sailed into the San Francisco Bay ready to share some love with Dub Nation via #DroneDrop: an activation that had fans buzzing and sneakerheads scrambling to get their hands on Stephen Curry autographed pairs of the brand new “More Dubs” colorway of the Curry 4.
o Throughout the day Under Armour Basketball, in partnership with RED Interactive, launched drones off of boats to drop locations across San Francisco and Oakland; a unique, fun and literal twist on the idea of a sneaker drop, inspired by Silicon Valley and the surrounding area’s heavy tech industry.
o Fans were invited to participate in the digital scavenger hunt on UA Basketball’s Instagram page, via mobile, to find drop zone pins. With the help of an interactive they were challenged to zoom and pan around looking for hidden drop sites using a unique QR code. Once directed to the hidden drop zones, autographed pairs of the Curry 4 “More Dubs” colorway were delivered via drone.
Despite the unique onsite activations, fans outside of the Bay Area were also able to get in on the action, with hidden prize markers scattered throughout the digital map enabling them to enter a sweepstakes for Under Armour swag and gear.
